Chapter 8: “I was so humiliated, hurt, spurned, offended, angry, sorry—I cannot hit upon the right name for the smart—God knows what its name was—that tears started to my eyes.” (pg.57) Pip is now seen how different he really is compared to the rest of the people. Having been raised by Joe and not his parents he wasn’t taught a lot of things that he should have learned if he would have had his parents as an example.
Chapter 9: “Towards Joe, and Joe only, I considered myself a young monster, while they sat debating what results would come to me from Miss Havisham's acquaintance and favour.” (pg.63) Pip is realizing what a huge disturbance he is causing to others. He always thought of himself like a monster but didn’t think anyone else would see it too. But he was wrong because of his actions he has hurt Joe and his family.
Chapter 10: “and in my sleep I saw the file coming at me out of a door, without seeing who held it, and I screamed myself awake.” (pg.72) This file obviously has a huge secret that Pip knows about but doesn’t want anyone else to find out. Having a dream where the file was appearing in front of him. He is trying his hardest not to look inside of the file when he is dreaming but I’m sure that he will end up recovering it.
